Ye Must

May 10, 2010 7:22:48 AM

A man lived a long, full life and was on his deathbed. A group of people stood at his bedside. He was asked the question, "What really matters most in life now that you are about to die?" The man, who was very wealthy, successful, respected and honest said in a whisper, "Ye must." The people wondered what he was trying to say. The man spoke again, speaking a little louder, "Ye must." The people were still puzzled. Finally, in his last breath, the man said, "Ye must". Then he died.

An incredible silence fell over the room. Nobody understood what the man was trying to say. After a few moments, a young orderly appeared at the door. He asked if something was wrong. Someone replied, "He just died." Then a person in the room cried out, "His last words were, You must." Another person added, "Yes, he kept saying, it sounded like, You must." The man at the door smiled and said, "I understand." The people in the room quickly took note. One of them asked, "What was he trying to say?" The young orderly told them, "Last night I shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with this man. I told him the whole Bible could be summed up in one verse. It is John 3:7 and it says, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again’. And last night that man believed by faith sincerely in Jesus, confessed his sin, and was truly born again". Then a person in the room commented, "But why are you smiling, this man just died." The young orderly replied, "I am smiling because the Lord is so gracious. He gave this man one blessed day...to share his faith."

Every single person in this entire world needs to know that God created you, He loves you and wants you to go to heaven when you die.

Sin has caused a major problem for us all. The moment we are born, we are spiritually dead to God. This is why Jesus Christ said in John chapter 3, verse 7 of the Bible, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again." Jesus knows that we have been born into this physical world but friend most importantly we need to be born spiritually. The Scriptures say that everyone is a sinner and therefore separated spiritually from God. Christ came and died on the cross for our sins offering each of us total forgiveness. All who believe this gospel and receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour will be saved and go to heaven.

Jesus said in Mark chapter one, verse fifteen, "Repent ye, and believe the gospel". God says that we are sinners and therefore we need to repent or turn from our sin. He also says we must believe in Jesus Christ and what He has done for us on the cross. We must know and believe the gospel which is "that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

If you are not a Christian, God is speaking to you right now through His own Word. He loves you and proved it by sending His only Son Jesus to die for your sins. Jesus has made it possible for you to go to heaven regardless of how bad of a sinner you are. Everybody is a sinner and everybody needs the Savior, Jesus Christ. You can call upon His name right now by faith in prayer. Confess that you are a sinner and ask Jesus Christ to save your soul.

The Lord Jesus walked the earth and instructed people to "deny self and follow Him" (Luke 9:23). Therefore, we believe in Jesus and our belief becomes action when we follow and obey Christ. This is not easy, but Jesus is the only way to heaven (John 14:6) and the One with the words of eternal life (John 6:68). Nobody is more important than Jesus Christ (Luke 14:26).

Find a Bible and read God's word. You could start in the New Testament, in the gospel of Matthew, and just begin reading all the way straight through to the book of Revelation. You will be blessed and God will speak to you. God bless you. If you have any questions or want to know more about Jesus, please feel free to contact us.

The New Teacher

May 10, 2010 7:21:58 AM

After being interviewed by the school administration, the eager teaching prospect said: "Let me see if I've got this right. You want me to go into that room with all those kids, and fill their every waking moment with a love for learning. And I'm supposed to instill a sense of pride in their ethnicity, modify their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse and even censor their t-shirt messages and dress habits.

You want me to wage a war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, check their backpacks for weapons of mass destruction, and raise their self esteem.

You want me to teach them patriotism, good citizenship, sportsmanship, fair play, how to register to vote, how to balance a checkbook, and how to apply for a job. I am to maintain a safe environment, recognize signs of anti-social behavior, offer advice, write letters of recommendation for student employment and scholarships and encourage respect for the cultural diversity of others.

I am to be a paragon of virtue, larger than life, such that my very presence will awe my students into being obedient and respectful of authority. And I am to pledge allegiance to family values and this current administration. You want me to incorporate technology into the learning experience, monitor web sites, and relate personally with each student. That includes deciding who might be potentially dangerous and/or liable to commit a crime in school.

I am to make sure all students pass the mandatory state exams, even those who don't come to school regularly or complete any of their assignments. Plus, I am to make sure that all of the students with handicaps get an equal education regardless of the extent of their mental or physical handicap.

And I am to communicate regularly with the parents by letter, telephone, newsletter and report card. All of this I am to do with just a piece of chalk, a computer, a few books, a bulletin board, a big smile AND on a starting salary that qualifies my family for food stamps! You want me to do all of this and yet you expect me . . . NOT TO PRAY?"

Spiritual Obituaries

May 10, 2010 7:21:18 AM

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" - Hebrews 9:27

Every single day people die all around us. It is a sad fact of life that we must say goodbye to those we care about.

Yes, every single day people die all around us. And every single day there are obituaries posted in the newspapers informing the world about death. And they ought to be a stark reminder to us all that the names listed in those obituaries represent REAL people who either went to heaven or hell upon their death.

I wonder, yes I wonder, if we could read of someone's SPIRITUAL obituary in the newspaper, what would we read...

"A 17 year old male died in a one vehicle crash as he lost control on an icy highway. He went to hell because neither his parents or his friends ever took him to church to hear about salvation through Jesus Christ."

"A 16 year old female drowned yesterday while canoeing, when she was thrown from her canoe. She woke up in heaven because her mom shared the Gospel with her and she accepted Jesus at an early age."

"A 96 year old former charity worker died peacefully in her sleep at the nursing home early this morning. Seconds later, she arrive in hell because no one ever told her that good deeds don't buy salvation, the blood of Jesus does.

"A 36 year old convicted murdered was put to death by lethal injection this afternoon. Seconds later, he saw Jesus face to face because a prison chaplain told him that all sins can be forgiven when we repent and accept Christ. And he did."

"A 52 year old homeless man was found dead in an alley behind a large grocery store. He went to hell because no one wanted to take the time to share the Gospel with a dirty, smelly vagrant.

"Another 52 year old homeless man was found dead several blocks away in an unrelated incident. He will spend eternity in heaven, because someone had recently bought him a meal and gave him a gospel tract...and he had accepted God's forgiveness after reading the tract.

Yep, every single day people die all around us. There are teenagers and senior citizens, nice folks and mean folks, good-looking people and dirty people, homeowners and homeless, law abiding citizens and law breakers, those that anticipated death and those that never saw it coming. And they all fall into two important categories...

...those that know Jesus, and those that don't.

I wonder, if we saw the spiritual obituaries of those that die, what would we see? Would we be shocked at how many people went to hell? Even if it was just one, would that horrify us to think that a real person was spending real time in a real place called hell?

Christian, here's the point. You and I are RESPONSIBLE for telling others about Christ. Jesus commands it. It's not an option. It's not negotiable. He says "Go."

The Bible says in Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Verse 14 says, "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

That word "preacher" simply means "someone who proclaims the Gospel." It isn't just your pastor. It isn't just ordained ministers. It's you.

Every single day, people all around us die...and go to either heaven or hell. And that just might be determined by whether or not you and I open our mouths and tell them about Jesus. We might be the only opportunity that they ever have to hear about salvation.

What a horrible thing to read in a spiritual obituary, "So and So went to hell because YOUR NAME HERE didn't tell them about Jesus when they had an opportunity."

But, what a wonderful thing to read in a spiritual obituary, "So and So went to heaven because YOUR NAME HERE took the time to tell them about forgiveness through Jesus."

Who dies next is unknown.

So, let's not waste time or opportunities.

Let's tell EVERYONE about Jesus.
